Other Sports

Did you know that a number of sporting groups run regular programs and classes at the Recquatic? These range from children’s basketball clinics to martial arts.

Please note that, unless otherwise stated, the programs listed below are external programs and they are not facilitated by Kwinana Recquatic. All queries regarding these programs should be directed to the relevant organisation.

 Social Badminton

This is a great program if you are looking to be more active and make new friends in a fun and non-competitive environment.

Held throughout the year on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:45am to 10am and everyone is welcome, no matter if you are a beginner or more skilled player!

Entry is just $5.80, ($5.30 for concession card holders) and there is no need to book, you can just turn up on the day. For further information please contact us on 9236 4700 or recquatic@kwinana.wa.gov.au 

 

 Rhee Taekwondo

Fun, fitness and self-defence training suitable for men, women and children of all ages from 3 to 60 years old.

Classes improve discipline, confidence, respect, courtesy, self-control, fitness and enhances overall good health. Simple, effective self-defence techniques are taught in the classes in a controlled environment to minimize the risk of injury.

Mainstream Classes  

6 years to 11 years                    

  • 6.00pm to 7.00pm           
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays
  • Classes held during school terms and during school holidays (not on public holidays)

12 years & above            

  • 6.30pm to 7.30pm           
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays
  • Classes held during school terms and during school holidays (not on public holidays)

Pre-Rhee Classes:         

  • 3-5 year olds                           
  • 5.00pm to 5.45pm           
  • Thursdays. (Studio 2)      
  • Pre-Rhee Classes are only held during School Terms, not during School Holidays.

Volleyball

Junior Volley clinics are run by fully accredited Volleyball WA coaches. The aim of Junior Volley clinics are to help kids ages 13 to 17 become more active and get involved in a fun non-contact team sport.

There is an opportunity for a Kids Volley program (6 to 12 yrs), please express your interest by emailing Jason on sean@volleyballwa.com.au

Junior volleyball classes are held at the Recquatic on Wednesdays from 4:30pm to 6pm during school term and are open for students between the ages of 13 and 17 years.

All enrolments are taken through Volleyball WA

Aussie Hoops Basketball for Kids

Aussie Hoops is Basketball Australia’s official introductory program, providing a fun and inclusive Basketball experience for 5-10 year olds that serves as an introduction to a lifetime of involvement in the game.

In addition to promoting healthy and active lifestyles, the program serves as a platform for social development and inclusion – fostering stronger and more vibrant communities and individuals.

Aussie Hoops has been designed in three staged programs to ensure that for each age group, participants are participating in activities and games that are relevant to their physical and mental capabilities, which will increase in competitiveness until participants are ready to transition into local club competitions.

Aussie Hoops classes are held at the Recquatic on Saturday mornings during school terms, broken down into age groups:

  • 8.30am to 9.15am – 5 to 7 years
  • 9.15am to 10am – 8 to 10 years

All enrolments are taken through Rockingham Basketball Recreation Association

Dynamic Flame Badminton

Dynamic Flame Badminton Club (DFBC) was founded in May 1985 and is incorporated with

the Department of Commerce. The club's primary role is to promote FUN physical activities that increase the rate of participation in badminton through support and leadership.

DFBC is a “not 4 profit” Local Community Sporting Club promoting badminton at grass roots level and developing high performance players. DFBC is also a KidSport club providing access and is inclusive, culturally diversified and supports membership of all nationalities.

Anyone from the ages of 6 to 75+ can take part in these sessions, which are held on Thursdays at the following times:

  • Juniors:          6pm to 7pm
  • Seniors:         7pm to 9pm

 Kwinana Swimming Club

Professional - Inclusive - Healthy - Competitive

Kwinana Swimming Club was formed in 1964 and in 2014 celebrated 50 years of being a part of the West Australian swimming community. Our club is currently based at the Kwinana Recquatic Centre. The Club boasts numerous State Age Finalist, Junior Championship, Masters National Qualifiers and attained the C Division Club Premiership Trophy for 2019 with promoted to B Division for the 2020. Kwinana Swimming Club prides itself on becoming a 'lighthouse' Club, meaning our program is open to those 5 years of age through to Masters. The club is a recognized provider for Sporting Schools and is one of very few Swimming clubs in WA that is a level 3 Goodsport club. Our Coaches are industry qualified within the Australian Swimming Coaches & Teachers Association and continually attend PD to further develop their skills.

Global Shotokan Karate

A Martial Art for all ages 4 and above.

At GSK, we teach quality traditional Japanese Shotokan karate. This means very efficient self-defence techniques that will build your confidence and skills. Shotokan Karate is recognised as being one of the most efficient Martial Arts in the world. 
We build good moral character and confidence
We work on good behaviour skills, etiquette, effective communication, building strong moral character and confidence, having a positive self-image, and respecting others. We foster qualities like humility, patience, and focus in all our students every day (because it just doesn’t happen by accident).

Karate Kwinana – training times:
Mondays: 

  • 4pm to 5pm – Little Tigers (4 to 7 years) and Beginners (Juniors 8 yrs+ and Adults 13 yrs+)
  • 5pm to 6pm – Intermediate and Advanced  

Saturdays: 

  • 1pm to 2pm – Little Tigers (4 to 7 years) and Beginners (Juniors 8 yrs+ and Adults 13 yrs+)
  • 2pm to 3.30pm – Advanced training

Public Holidays:

  • No training

School Holidays:

  • Training as normal

First class is FREE
Call to enrol, or just come along. Members of our clubs can train up to 5 times a week and pay no more.
All uniforms and gear are discounted for members
