We've introduced a range of membership options to allow residents to take advantage of SilverSport Funding.

Funding can be used towards:

  • Any Gold, Silver or Bronze Concession Membership
  • A SilverSport off-peak (midday-3pm) Gym and Aquatics membership
  • Term Programs (such as Yoga, Active Womens Program and SeniorSational)
  • Badminton (Tuesday/Thursday during school terms)
  • Swimming Lessons
  • Water Volleyball (Tuesday/Thursday year-round)
  • Hydrotherapy

About SilverSport and Eligibility

SilverSport supports seniors aged 60 years and over to participate in sport and active recreation. Eligible Kwinana residents can apply for financial assistance of up to $200 to contribute towards physical activity programs or memberships. SilverSport is a trial program in Kwinana available until 30 June 2017 (subject to funding).

Further information and application forms.

In order to receive a subsidy off your SilverSport membership, you must present your approved SilverSport Application form with your membership application.

To apply for funding:

  • Complete a SilverSport Application Form (available from the Recquatic Centre, Council building or on the City of Kwinana website).
  • Submit your completed form to Council with proof of age and a valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession card.

Council will assess your application, and if approved, will return your application form with the approval area completed and signed.

The approved amount will be deducted from your membership and you will be required to pay any remaining balance.

For more information on the SilverSport program and criteria, refer to the City of Kwinana or Department of Sport and Recreation websites.
Please note that this is a trial program and limited funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis for Senior (60+) Kwinana residents.

I'm not eligible for SilverSport Funding, can I still purchase a SilverSport Off-Peak membership?

Yes, provided that you hold a current Seniors Card, Pensioner Concession Card, Full Time Student Card or Health Care Card (that covers you, not just your dependants), however you will be required to pay the full price of the membership on joining.

Gold/Silver/Bronze memberships

If you would like to be able to choose the facilities you use and come at any time during our opening hours, then your subsidy can be applied to any Gold, Silver or Bronze membership.

For 3, 6 and 12 month paid-up-front memberships, we will deduct your subsidy and you will be required to pay the balance.

If you would like a 12 month direct debit membership, the subsidy amount will be used to reduce your fortnightly repayments as shown below.  Please note that a Direct Debit setup fee may apply for direct debit memberships, and this fee is paid at the time of joining.  Our normal direct debit membership conditions apply (see link to terms and conditions at bottom of page)

Membership Level Normal Price with subsidy*
Gold Concession $34.00 per fortnight $26.31 per fortnight
Silver Concession $30.70 per fortnight $23.01 per fortnight
Bronze Concession $26.30 per fortnight $18.61 per fortnight

*Note: figures reflect full $200 subsidy and will change if a subsidy of less than $200 is applied to your membership

How does the Badminton Membership Work?

Badminton is run Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30am during school terms.

We provide nets, shuttlecocks, tea and coffee (BYO racquet).

The annual joining fee of $25 covers the cost of tea, coffee and shuttlecocks.

There is a Term registration fee of $44 per term which allows you to play both mornings per week, so up to 20 times over the term (please note, there is no credit given if you miss a day).

You can enrol in 1, 2, 3 or 4 terms.  If you enrol in all 4, we round the price down to $200 so that it may be fully subsidised.  If you don't want to enrol in all 4 terms, then we only bill the council for the joining fee and registration fees for the term(s) that you enrol in, and you can use the rest of your subsidy towards something else.

Want to play but not eligible for funding?  You can still play - fees are the same but you will pay the annual joining fee and current term up-front, then enrol on a term-by-term basis.  There is also an option to participate casually for $4.35 per session (no enrolment or joining fee necessary).

How do I use my funding for a Yoga, Swimming Lessons, Hydrotherapy Passes or SeniorSational?

Complete a SilverSport Membership Application form (click here to download or fill it out at the front desk) and tick the box next to the program/passes that you want to use your funding for.  Present your approved SilverSport Application form with your membership application at the Recquatic front desk.  If the program is less than the amount of funding, we will enrol you and bill the council.  If it is more than your funding, we will bill the council for the funded portion, and you will be required to pay the balance on enrolment.  Please note that if funding is used for Term Programs (such as yoga, SeniorSational or swimming lessons), no credit is given for missed sessions.
